Bio

rebecca herrera alegría (b. 1996) is a strawberry-haired artist and writer born and raised in new york. she is second-generation salvadoran and speaks english and spanish.

rebecca holds a bachelor's degree from the fashion institute of technology in art history and museum professions (2020) and associate's degrees from suffolk county community college in visual arts and english. (2017) 

​

she is currently the managing editor of fifth wheel press, an independent publisher of queer, gender non-conforming, and trans creatives. she has also worked as the submissions manager for horse egg literary, an online art/poetry magazine dedicated to whimsical, surreal, and imaginative voices. she was also featured as a guest poetry editor for mag 20/20, an online publication dedicated to writers and artists aged 20-29.

much of her work is fairylike, whimsical, soft, and nostalgic. her practice primarily involves topics such as culture, history, femininity, social issues, the mundane, and mythology. you can also find her personal writing and newsletter (las fresitas) on substack.

​

she is currently working on a debut chapbook and a novel. she has interests in collage art, photography, drawing, and painting. aside from this, she likes taking care of her plants and visiting art galleries.
